I am so grateful to have an opportunity here today to meet all of the friends who participated in the establishment of CORE at the end of last year, all the friends who have been working with us for the last 12 months, and new friends who are interested in open courseware. On behalf of CORE, as a member of the sponsors and organizing committee, I would like to extend our warm welcome to you who are attending this conference in Shanghai, a vibrant city, and at Shanghai Jiaotong University, a distinguished university in China. CORE, which has many member universities, is privileged and deeply appreciates the encouragement and support which we have received from the Hewlett Foundation, MIT, MOE, IET Foundation, and many friends here in China and abroad. The theme of the conference is the sharing and management of open courseware and educational resources among universities and other organizations in order to enhance education. The excitement and potential significant contributions of open courseware will be a dynamic program that contributes to the world's quality of life and peace. Today we have very interesting program with two outstanding keynote speakers and eighteen presenters. I am sure with the wisdom of this group that we will find guidelines and avenues to work together as a team to enhance the quality of higher education. Thank you!! |
