CORE Signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with its Lead Universities to Launch CORE's MIT OCW Program in Beijing

CORE's MIT OCW Program was officially launched among its Lead Universities at a meeting on Jan. 25, 2005. The meeting was hosted by Professor Liu Meifeng. Dr. Fun-Deng Wang, Chairman of CORE, gave the opening speech and expressed the importance of introducing MIT OCW and the concept of open resources sharing to China . Professor Liu Dianqiu discussed details of MIT OCW and iCampus with the representatives. Professor Liu Meifeng discussed CORE's translation, localization, and quality control updates. Representatives from CORE's Lead Universities were engaged in clarifying certain work areas, such as the translation of MIT OCW and its start-up programs. They also gave many practical suggestions about the process of applying this start-up program. CORE and its Lead Universities agreed on a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for CORE's MIT OCW Program. In the MOU, CORE's Lead Universities committed to translate 100 MIT OCW and to teach 168 MIT OCW immediately after the spring break of 2005. CORE will give funds to each Lead University to ensure the smooth operation of the program. The Lead Universities who signed the MOU are Tsinghua University , Beijing University , Beijing Normal University , Beijing Jiaotong University , Central Radio and TV University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Zhejiang University, Dalian University of Technology, Central South University and Sichuan University . Representatives from OPEN E-learning Education Center and some CORE's volunteers also attended this meeting.
