China Open Resources for Education (CORE) is pleased to announce that it now has assembled, organized and linked 451 China Quality OpenCourseWare (CNQOCW) on the CORE website for use and sharing in China and globally. These courses were developed in the years of 2003 and 2004 under the sponsorship of Ministry of Education in China at numerous universities and colleges.

Among these 451 courses selected nationwide, 176 were developed by CORE member universities; among the 176, 98 courses, or more than half, were developed by the ten CORE Lead Universities.

The Ministry of Education (MOE) plans to develop 1500 national-level quality courses by the end of 2007. It is understood that MOE will select and support 300 new courses by the end of this year, so that the number of CNQOCW will total 751.

CORE would like to express its appreciation for MOE to plan, select and support these quality courses, and the efforts and accomplishment of the faculties who contributed their outstanding courses for open sharing. CORE also would like to acknowledge the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation and the IET Foundation for their support and funding to establish the CORE website and its operations, the base for providing the links and sharing arrangements. In addition, CORE is privileged to work with MITOCW which assists in many ways to strengthen CORE programs and provides all its MITOCW materials.

CORE is in the process of discussing with interested parties to find cooperation and funding for the translation of these CNQOCW for a wider range of users worldwide.
