On Nov 16th, Chairman Wang participated in the opening ceremony of the second Beijing Forum, which was hosted at the Great Hall of the People by Peking University under the theme of "The Harmony and Prosperity of Civilizations" and the focus "Asia's Opportunity and Development in Globalization". The ¡°Beijing Forum¡±, an international academic forum focused on academic and cultural exchange. Based on the rich culture of Beijing, it introduced and published world-class academic achievements to promote academic development in the Asia-Pacific region.
The Forum was hosted by Executive Vice President and Chairman of the University Council, Peking University, Min Weifang. Many notable figures attended and addressed opening speeches, including Xu Zhihong, President of Peking University, former President of America George Bush; Joseph Verner Reed, Vice Secretary-General of UN; and CheyTae-won, Chairman of SK Group. During the coffee break, Chairman Wang discussed questions on technical cooperation, culture and education and exchanged ideas with President Bush and some other delegates. The followed keynote speeches were delivered by Professor He Fangchuan from Peking University, Hunter Rawlings, President of Cornell University and Tu Weiming from Harvard University. In the evening, Chairman Wang attended the Dinner Banquet at the Great Hall of the People and delivered a passionate speech on behalf of IETE foundation of Colorado, USA, and CORE, China Open Resources for Education. Chairman Wang pointed out that CORE¡¯s privileged to work with MIT and many elite universities in US, providing quality courses to Chinese education. He also expressed CORE¡¯s belief that open resource for education would contribute greatly along with the overall friendship activities to enhance better quality of life and prosperity between the US and China. At last, Chairman Wang wished the conference success. Zhu Shanlu, member of the Standing Committee of the Beijing Municipality and Vice Secretary of Educational Work Commission of Beijing City, Chen Haosu, President of Chinese people¡¯s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and Wang Mengkui, Director of Develop and Research Center of State Council also delivered wonderful speeches. On Nov, 17th, Chairman Wang attended the University Leadership Function,  and gave a masterly presentation. Chairman Wang made a brilliant ppt and introduced clearly CORE¡¯s mission, efforts and accomplishments. He also illustrated the smooth rise of hit on CORE¡¯s website and the wide location of CORE¡¯s lead universities in China. Chairman Wang explained the model of CORE OCW and pointed out the challenges CORE¡¯s encountering and the problem of sustainability.
