The 10th Global Chinese Conference of Computers in Education was held in Beijing on June 2¨C5, 2006. It was organized by Global Chinese Society for Computers in Education and hosted by Educational Technology Institute, Tsinghua University. There were 520 participants from home and abroad, submitted full papers amounted to 735.
The goal of the conference is to promote the application of ICT in education. The conference will provide an arena for scholars and practitioners to discuss and exchange their ideas and experiences about the application of computer technologies in education. It encompassed 8 workshops:
1. Theory and Practice on E-learning
2. Learning Environment Design and Development
3. Intelligent Education: Theories and Practices
4. Technology Integration and Performance-based Learning
5. Social and Cultural Issues in Online Learning and Design
6. Educational Games: Belief and Development
7. Teachers¡¯ Professional Development for ICT-integrated pedagogy
8. Theory and Practice of Computer Supported Collaborative Learning
As a participant and sponsor of this conference, CORE has sent three representatives to attend to the conference and its workshops. During the conference, the representatives gave an introduction of IET Foundation and details of CORE. And Prof. Meiqi Huang read the congratulation letter from Prof. Fun-Den Wang, Chairman of the IET foundation and CORE.

 I am very happy to represent China Open Resources for Education (CORE) and IET Educational Foundation here. As a sponsor of this conference, I firstly give every participant my warmly congratulations. Then, I¡¯d like to share some ideas with you all.
Education is the key element of our society and human beings. It is the important approach which can improve people¡¯s living standard. Especially in the digital era of computers, the relationship of education and economics, society and human beings become closer and closer.
Computers and Internet have improved the traditional campus education, promoted the distance education and paved the way of open education. Meanwhile, they have enhanced the relationships of teachers, scholars, researchers and other social members.
With the mission of improving the quality of Chinese education and accelerating the open education, since its establishment in 2004, CORE has set up cooperation programs with more than 400 universities from home and abroad. The click number of CORE¡¯s website is over 4,000,000 per year.
