Dalian Meeting of OCW-Translating Teachers and Volunteers |

CORE¡¯s Meeting of OCW-Translating Teachers and Volunteers was held in Prominent Hall of Library in Dalian University of Technology (DUT). Zhu Hong, Director of Teaching Affairs Office of DUT with related faculty¡¢volunteers and students attended this meeting, during which Dr. Fun-den Wang, Chairman of CORE, awarded Translation Certificates and Member Badges to DUT¡¯S OCW-Translating Teachers and Volunteers who had finished their English-Chinese OCWs in 2005.
Director Zhu addressed congratulated speech at the beginning of the meeting. Liu Dianqiu£¬CORE¡¯s Senior Adviser presided this symposium and introduced members of CORE¡¯s delegation. Dr. Fun-den Wang, CORE¡¯s Chairman announced that CORE would officially carry out its three initiatives, inclusive of Faculty Member, Volunteer Member and Student Member in DUT. Then, Prof. Huang Meiqi, Administrative Assistant to the Chairman of CORE, gave a brief introduction about CORE¡¯s formulation, development process and achievements CORE reached in recent years.
Later, Dr. Fun-den Wang, CORE¡¯s Chairman awarded Translation Certificates and Member Badges to DUT¡¯S OCW-Translating Teachers and Volunteesr who had finished their OpenCourseWares in 2005. Total 29 teachers got translation certificates:7 Diamond certificates£¬3 Gold certificates and 19 Silver Certificates of Faculty Member, and one student got Volunteer Certificate. Meanwhile, CORE acknowledged the accomplishments made by the professors and volunteers who participated in the translation, proofreading and use of OCW.
The faculty of DUT and volunteers discussed some problems and their feelings related to OCW translation with CORE delegation after the awarding ceremony. Meanwhile, they also brought forward many good advices and suggestions.
Teacher Gao, responsible for management and supervision of student organization in DUT, and some leaders of DUT¡¯ student union discussed with CORE¡¯ relative staffs on establishment of student club of ¡°Open Studying¡± in DUT. They gave many practical advices and showed that they will support the development of CORE¡¯s Student Member with the purpose of advancing open education among undergraduates and graduates. |
