Second Meeting of CORE¡¯s Volunteers in Beijing |

On the morning of Oct 29, the Second Meeting of CORE¡¯s Volunteers in Beijing was held in Room 712, SiYuan Building in Beijing Jiaotong University. Prof. Fun-Den Wang, Chairman of CORE, Prof. Liu Dianqiu, Senior Consultant of CORE, Prof. Huang Meiqi, Chairman Assistant of CORE and about 30 CORE¡¯s volunteers from more than 20 universities and institutes in Beijing attended this meeting.
To start, Prof. Wang, Prof. Liu and Prof. Huang expressed their respective warm welcome, thanks and respect to volunteers, and introduced the latest development of Open Education. Then, Ms. Erfang Yan who is responsible for the volunteers¡¯s work gave a presentation on the achievements of CORE¡¯s volunteers.
At the meeting, Prof, Wang awarded certificates and CORE¡¯s pins to volunteers who have completed the translation of OpenCourseWare. Later, volunteers discussed their works of translation and each presented their own views on this issue. Tingting Xie, a staff worker from China Radio International, shared what she¡¯s learned during her translation; Tang Chao from Beijing Foreign Studies University put forward his suggestions on how to publicize CORE in order to expand CORE¡¯s influence on Chinese universities and even around the world. After that, Zhaoping Sun from Beijing University of Post and Telecommunications demonstrated the improved model of translation; then, Weikang Fan from Tsinghua University expressed his opinions on Open Education. In addition, volunteers from Chinese Academy of Sciences, Peking University, Beijing University of Aeronautics & Astronautics, University of International Business and Economics, etc. also proposed a lot of constructive ideas and advice.
Through this meeting, all the participants deepened the understanding of Open Education and furthered mutual communication. Finally, CORE¡¯s volunteers voiced they would do their best to contribute to the Open Education in China. |
