On the morning of November 18, Dr. Fun-Den Wang, Chairman of CORE met Prof. Mike Smith and Ms. Phoenix Wang from Hewlett Foundation in the meeting room of China Central Radio and TV University, accompanied by Mr. Robert D. Nash and Mr. Dan C.Jones from Coastline Community College, Mr. Todd Richmond from University of Southern California and Ms. Andriana A. de Kanter from American Department of Education. Prof. Yan Bin, Vice President of China Central Radio and TV University attended the meeting either. Other participants were Prof. Liu Dianqiu, Senior Consultant and CEO of CORE, Prof. Huang Meiqi, Chairman Assistant of CORE, and CORE staff.
This meeting is CORE¡¯s annual report to representatives of Hewlett Foundation. At the very beginning, Dr. Fun-Den Wang expressed his gratitude to all the guests and introduced CORE¡¯s new CEO- Prof. Liu Dianqiu to them. Then, Prof. Liu presented CORE¡¯s achievements in 2006 and what CORE will do in the future. Later, six CORE staff gave reports on the work of their related jobs and responsed questions from all the guests. At the end of the meeting, Dr. Wang made a new plan of the software tools, that is, to integrate the available Open Source Software into a unified one. Mr. Li Yun, from Sino-American Cooperation Technology Co., Ltd., illustrated a part of the unified one, UIP (Unified Information Platform), to all the guests.
Accompanied by CORE staff, all guests visited the virtual classrooms, meeting rooms and learning center of CCRTVU (China Central Radio and TV University) after the meeting. By comparing learning environment and conditions of American¡¯s, some guests praised the rapid development of virtual education in China.
Although it is one morning long, this visit enhanced the relations between CORE and Hewlett. By proposing so many practical suggestions to CORE, all the guests expressed that they will continue to support CORE¡¯s work and promote open education in China together with CORE. |
