Closing Speech by Dr. Fun-Den Wang at the Third Open Education Conference 2006-09-07 Dear colleagues and friends, ladies and gentlemen, Good afternoon! We are soon closing this conference which has been a great success after two days of communication and discussion. Before closing, I want to thank everybody from Xi’an Jiaotong University, who organized the conference, as well as CORE staff who provided the services. It is you who made this conference a success. I want to thank Hewlett Foundation, MIT, IET Foundation and Ministry of Education, who made this conference possible. I want to thank everybody from home and abroad, from Shanxi Province, Harbin, and Tibet. USA and Japan. It is your participation that made this conference excellent and professional. It’s the key point for our success that all of you shared your own resources and achievements sincerely and unselfishly. It’s a fruitful conference, through which we have furthered mutual understanding and deepened our friendship. We’ve learned about more organizations, resources and advanced technologies. Furthermore, CORE has confirmed what she can do in the future. Meanwhile, we are increasingly aware of the importance of high-quality education. As long as the combination of traditional education, distance education and open education can meet the need of various levels of learners, we can build a peaceful, beautiful and harmonious society.
